A huge thanks to my National Costume designer @amandus_paul / @anakseniproduction for designing this beautiful costume and making this possible for me to stand out. And yes, I have been going viral for the past few days because of this Dayak costume.
However, this does not belong to the Dayak tribe but it belongs to the Orang Ulu in Sarawak, Borneo part of the East of Malaysia.
The inspiration came from Orang Ulu men because they are renowned warriors, hunters, boatbuilders and blacksmiths. I chose to wear this National costume because it represents the indigenous warrior of Orang Ulu from Sarawak, Malaysia. The design and motives of the costume inspired from both Borneo and peninsula of Malaysia, to symbolize the diversity ethnics of the country. Paired with other accessories, I intend to make this costume a fashion statement on stage.
Malaysia is a country full of multi-culture with different races and diversity ethnics. I feel extremely proud and honoured to be on stage and show the world about arts and culture of my own homeland, Malaysia 🇲🇾
